Crab’s Claw Heliconia

The rainy season is the big time for Heliconia flowers and this year in my garden they are massing on one side for some reason. I thought I would share what I see when I look out of my kitchen window while washing dishes! 🙂

    1. 🙂 Yes, and not being a seafood connoisseur, I get them mixed up! 🙂 But some people do call them Crab’s Claw instead of Lobster’s Claw, which is the preferred name for this variety of Heliconia. And if you Google “Crab’s Claw flower,” it comes up with heliconias, though if you ask for the common name of Heliconia it says Lobster’s Claw. Names can be funny and it would be fun to read a history of how such “common names” developed.
