This Indenture made this nineteenth day of October in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twenty five
between Skelton Hardgrave of the State of Tennessee and County of Davidson of the one part and John Davis
of the County and State foresaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Skelton Hardgrave for and
in consideration of the sum of six hundred and eighty three dollars to him in hand paid by the said John
Davis the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien
infeoff convey and confirm unto the said John Davis his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract of parcel
of Land situate lying and being in the county of Davidson on the north side of Big Harpeth river. Beginning
at Francis Hardgraves northwest corner and runs west fifty eight poles to a stake Then south twelve and one
half degrees west one hundred and fourteen poles to the north bank of Harpeth then up the meanders of thereof
south forty degrees east thirty eight poles to the mouth of Flat Creek, then up the meanders of said creek
north forty two degrees east fourteen poles north ten degrees east twenty two poles north forty four degrees
east twenty four poles then east twenty seven poles to a stake near the bank of the creek and on Francis Hard-
graves west boundary line. Then north one degree east with said line ninety poles to the Beginning and
containing by estimation forty seven and a half acres be this same more or less it being part of a preemption
of 640 acres granted by the State of North Carolina to George Nevel, To Have and To Hold the aforesaid
Land with all and singular the rights, profits, emoluments, hereditaments and appurtenances of in and to the same
belonging or in any way wise appertaining to the only proper use and behoof of him the said John Davis heirs
and assigns forever. And the same Skelton Hardgrave for himself his executors and administrators
convenant and agree with the same John Davis his heirs and assigns that the afore recited land and
premises he will warrant and forever defend against the right, title, interest, claim of all and every
whatsoever except one acre one hundred and forty two square poles previously conveyed by deed bearing date
twenty fifth day of December 1824 for the use of the providence Meetinghouse and a Neighbourhood school house
which may revert to the said Davis on the condition named therein. Witnesseth whereof the said Skelton
Hardgrave hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written.

This Indenture of bargain and sale between Skelton Hardgrave on the one part and John Davis of
the other part was acknowledged in open court by the said Skelton Hardgrave to be his act &
deed and ordered to be registered. Tax paid. Test. Nathan Ewing, clerk of said court
