Cariblue Beach & Jungle Resort

I spent only one night here before going with the Birding Club to the Yorkin Bribri Indigenous Reserve for 3 nights. I found it to be a very nice beach hotel with excellent food. I was in a cabin, but they may have rooms in the main building, not sure. See their hotel website: Cariblue Beach & Jungle Resort.

Would I Go There Again?

Yes. I intended to, but tried other places next and settled for Banana Azul as my regular South Caribe place.

Likes

  • Cabins “in the jungle.”
  • Good food!

Dislikes

  • The beach is across the highway which you have to cross through traffic to get to. Not good. But everything else was good.

Nature & Other Activities

  • You are in a little forest across the road from the beach which is always good for nature.
  • You are in the middle of all the South Caribbean parks & reserves you can drive to, walk, or take a taxi: Gandoca-Manzanillo, Cahuita National Park, Jaguar Reserve & Rescue Center, Ara Project for Green Macaws, Sloth Rescue Center in Cahuita and more!
  • You have access to the beach and all the beach & water activities available like surfing, snorkeling, diving, fishing, kayaking, etc.
  • The hotel has a Spa with all the spa services+ yoga.
  • Near all the South Caribbean Tours like to the Bribri Village & waterfall, chocolate tour, a farm tour, and more. And you can go a little further away for whitewater rafting & ziplining.
Paved sidewalks or boardwalks between all cabins and everything else.

Rooms & Food

  • They are a 3-star hotel with an above average restaurant that satisfied all my needs for my one night there.

Getting There

  • Driving from Atenas is 255 km or about 4 1/2 hours drive. Tour services like Walter Ramirez in Atenas can drive you there and there are a few shuttle services that go to Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, like Caribe Fun. But the cheapest way is
  • By Public Bus with different options including a nonstop from San Jose. Check out the details on https://thebusschedule.com/cr/
  • And my preference now is the quickest & easiest way to get there: Fly Sansa to the Limón airport and a taxi from there to the hotel.
