Los Campesinos Eco-Lodge

This is a really out-of-the-way rainforest lodge on the mountains behind or east of Quepos. A lot of young people who do mountaineering & rappelling go there for the surrounding cliffs, including a climb on the waterfall right there at the lodge. I went way back when with the Birding Club and the birding is okay there. It reminded me of Yorkin with the village ladies doing the cooking for all our meals, except they have electricity here! 🙂 It is simple or basic at an very economical price that includes all three meals. See photos & reviews at this Google Search Link or go to their Website Campesinos Ecolodge.

Would I Go There Again?

Yes! But it is not my first choice for a repeat visit.

Nature & Other Activities

  • Just being deep in the forest up on a mountain is good!
  • Birding and other hikes in the forest.
  • Waterfall and swinging bridge.
  • Waterfall climbing or rappelling.
  • Horseback riding
  • I think their website lists another tour of some kind.

Rooms & Meals

  • Basic cabins and Tico meals.

Getting There

  • You pretty much need a car since a bus could get you only to Quepos. From Quepos you drive up the mountain to the lodge about 39km or 1 hour drive. From Atenas it is 172 km or 3 hours, 40 min drive.
